Holy Brother
Dance, identity and Indigenous resilience.
The story
Dance, identity and Indigenous resilience.
William Kennedy prepares to take the stage at Indigenous cultural festivals in Europe. Through regalia, dance and voice, the film explores what it means to share Indigenous identity with an audience far from home.
Set in Italy and across European festivals, Holy Brother moves between preparation and performance. It considers cultural survival, inherited trauma and healing through language, memory and ancestral knowledge.
The creative approach
The film stays close to the rituals and transformations that precede the stage. The emphasis is on a poetic portrait of William’s experience and the responsibilities he carries.
